Affectionately referred to as “fashion’s biggest night out,” nothing signals the arrival of spring like the Met Gala, which is held every year on the first Monday in May, and took place last night at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The three actors who played the kids in the beloved 1993 Robin Williams movie Doubtfire recently reunited to mark the film’s 31st anniversary, and it prompted Canadian Lisa Jakub, who played Lydia, to share a story about Williams’ support and kindness. Jakub recalled that during the filming, she was very upset when her high school in Canada basically kicked her out, even though she was doing her best to keep up with her school work by mail. So Williams sent the high school a letter, asking that the decision be reconsidered. But as Jakub explained, “the principal got the letter, framed the letter, put it up in the office, and didn’t ask me to come back – amazing.” For a sweeter ending, Mrs. Doubtfire is available for streaming on STARZ.
