Today’s Lede Stories
After seven critically acclaimed seasons, THE GOOD DOCTOR – which stars Freddie Highmore in a groundbreaking role as Dr. Shaun Murphy – airs its highly anticipated series finale tonight, appropriately titled “Goodbye,” at 10 p.m. ET on CTV, CTV.ca, and the CTV app. Last week’s penultimate episode left loyal viewers with two massive cliffhangers, and showrunners David Shore and Liz Friedman broke down what it all means, and what’s in store, in an interview with TV Insider. Also tonight on CTV, the Season 2 finale of WILL TRENT is at 8 p.m. ET, followed by the Season 6 finale of THE ROOKIE at 9 p.m. ET.
An official selection of the 2024 SXSW Film & TV Festival, and winner of the TV Premiere Audience Award, the four-part docuseries STAX: SOULSVILLE U.S.A. is available in its entirety now on Crave. It follows the rise and fall of Stax Records, a small music label that punched far above its weight in the 1960s and 1970s, with acts such as Otis Redding, Isaac Hayes, Booker T. & the M.G.’s, and Sam & Dave. A review in The Wall Street Journal says, “vintage fans of vintage R&B probably thought STAX was a major label … but if there is a single takeaway from the documentary, it is how precarious the entire enterprise was, and how reliant on happy accidents and circumstance.”
