Today’s Lede Stories

Asked whether he likes or loathes the three-piece suits that his lead character regularly wears in WILL TRENT, Ramón Rodríguez was bluntly honest in an interview with TV critic Bill Harris for The Lede. “It started as a hate relationship, I won’t lie,” Rodriguez admitted during a recent visit to Bell Media headquarters in Toronto. “But it evolved. Part of the evolution of finding the character for myself was, this is his armour. It’s a mask. A large part of the three-piece suits, and being a little quirky, and the fact that he can be off-putting, I think these are coping mechanisms.” Fans of the show have been coping with a two-week break, but WILL TRENT returns tonight with a new episode, at 8 p.m. ET on CTV, CTV.ca, and the CTV app.

When Madonna’s Celebration Tour hit Mexico City recently, the pop icon brought another celebrity friend onto the stage, as has been the custom, to help judge dancers in a “Vogue” competition. But when Salma Hayek arrived, she was wearing a stunning outfit that clearly channelled her 2002 film Frida, which was about legendary Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. Hayek proudly displayed Kahlo’s signature crown of flowers, a floral skirt, and a Madonna-inspired bustier under a leather bolero. For anyone who wants to make comparisons, Frida – for which Hayek received an OSCAR® nomination – is available for streaming on CTV Movies on CTV.ca, and the CTV app.
