TSN Attracts Record Audience for WIMBLEDON Gentlemen’s Championship

Toronto, ON (July 9, 2012) – An historic WIMBLEDON final delivers an historic audience. Overnight audience data from BBM Canada confirms a record average audience of 515,000 viewers tuned in to TSN to see Roger Federer win his seventh WIMBLEDON Gentlemen’s Championship with a riveting victory over Scotland’s Andy Murray yesterday.

This is the most-watched WIMBLEDON final ever on Canadian television – up 16% compared to the previous high set during the 2008 final (445,000 viewers on Global/NBC)*.

Overall, more 2.9 million Canadians tuned in to watch some or all of the WIMBLEDON Gentlemen’s Championship on TSN on Sunday.

Full coverage of the WIMBLEDON championship on TSN and TSN2 this year was up 16% compared to last year’s coverage on TSN, TSN2 and Global/NBC.

This was the first time TSN has delivered complete coverage of the WIMBLEDON final weekend. Last year the network reached an extensive multimedia rights agreement with the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet club for exclusive live coverage of all rounds of the WIMBLEDON Championships for the next 10 years.
