TSN Acquires Multi-Year Broadcast Rights for TOUR de FRANCE

Toronto, ON (February 1, 2011) – TSN announced today it has acquired exclusive, multi-year English-language broadcast rights for the Tour de France – the world’s premiere cycling event. As the exclusive Canadian broadcasters, TSN and TSN2 will deliver complete coverage of the Tour de France beginning this July.

TSN and TSN2’s Tour de France coverage will be available in High Definition – marking the first time the race has been broadcast in HD on Canadian english television.

The Tour de France is the second major international sporting event acquired by TSN today. Early today, the network announced it reached a broad multimedia rights agreement with the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) for UEFA EURO 2012 and UEFA EURO 2016.

“TSN is home to the world’s biggest sporting events and there is nothing bigger in cycling than the Tour de France,” said Stewart Johnston, President of TSN. "We are looking forward to putting the national spotlight on the race and capturing all of the excitement and drama as it unfolds this summer in HD.”

The historic Tour De France features the best cyclists in the world racing throughout France over three weeks in pursuit of the coveted yellow jersey. The 98th edition of the Tour de France runs from July 2 to 24, 2011. The race will be will be made up of 21 stages covering close to 3,500 kilometres.
