NEW SERIES

I WAS SAVED
Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/ 9 p.m. PT, beginning April 8
A man contemplating suicide never could have dreamed that a 2 kg dachshund would save his life. And, the death of a young American soldier shattered the hopes and dreams of the family and fiancée he left behind, but one stray puppy helped put the pieces of their lives back together. I WAS SAVED is a six-part series that uplifts spirits and proves that animals have the power to transform human lives. Each story reveals people eclipsed by their darkest hours who then find light and hope in the purest of forms – animals. Some might call it divine intervention while others might call it a miracle as every animal in I WAS SAVED gives his or her human family the greatest gift of all – a second chance at life.

NEW SPECIALS

WHEN ANIMALS BITE BACK
Wednesday, April 18 at 9 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT

Captive and wild animal’s rebel in these real-life encounters caught on tape from news, sports, police and home video. Bulls, crocs, chimps, angry geese and a Staffordshire terrier that absolutely hates the police!

BEFORE WHALE WARS: AT THE EDGE OF THE WORLD
Wednesday, April 25 at 9 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT
This two-hour acclaimed documentary special serves as prequel to one of Animal Planet’s most captivating shows ever – WHALE WARS – as the controversial Sea Shepherd Conservation Society attempt to stop a Japanese whaling fleet. The international volunteer crew, though under-trained and poorly equipped, has developed a combination of bizarre and brilliant tactics with which to stop the whalers. With one ship (The Farley Mowat) too slow to chase down the whaling fleet and the second ship (The Robert Hunter) unsuited for Antarctic ice conditions – and with no country supporting their efforts to enforce international law – the situation becomes increasingly desperate in this real-life David-vs.-Goliath adventure. Programming note: WHALE WARS: Season 5 debuts on June 6

KINGDOM OF THE ELEPHANTS
Thursday, April 26 at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT

In Thailand, the Karen people who work and live with elephants are called mahouts. KINGDOM OF THE ELEPHANTS is an intimate tale as told by a father to his daughter – a young mahout in training. At the heart of the story is a modern day tale of a girl and her elephant. On a larger scale, it is a tale of how elephants and their mahouts helped shape a kingdom, defended a nation and became Siam’s most sacred animal.

RETURNING SERIES

MY CAT FROM HELL: Season 2
Tuesdays at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT, beginning April 3
Following last year’s attention-grabbing three-part miniseries, MY CAT FROM HELL returns to Animal Planet with six episodes for Season 2. MY CAT FROM HELL features Jackson Galaxy, a cat behaviorist who's tough on the outside but sensitive on the inside – especially when it comes to cats and their owners. Galaxy applies 15 years of feline experience and proven training techniques to help exhausted, distraught cat owners improve their relationships with their hellish cats. Armed with his guitar case filled with cat toys and training aides, Galaxy explains the reasons why these cats are causing their owners headaches and then immediately works with the owners and their cats with the goal of curbing the cats' diabolical habits and rescuing their owners from nightmare situations.

PITBULLS AND PAROLEES: Season 3
Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/9 p.m. PT, beginning April 9In the third season, Tia Torres continues to be a force to be reckoned with. Over the past decade, she’s built Villalobos, the largest facility in the United States for the rescue and rehabilitation of her beloved pit bull breed. Along the way, she’s faced the discrimination that came with being married to a convict and endured the intolerance surrounding the pit bull breed. Torres also managed to recruit and foster a staff of parolees who help keep her facility running smoothly, raise two daughters and adopted twin sons, and fight a raging wildfire that threatened to wipe out her precious home and animals.

INFESTED!: Season 2
Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT, beginning April 12
Roaches! Rats! Bats! Oh my! The new season of INFESTED! premieres with seven hour-long episodes. The second season of INFESTED! unearths the real-life horror stories of ordinary people plagued by extraordinary infestations inside their homes. Every one of these victims has suffered either physical harm or psychological trauma. In Season 2, get up close and personal with nature's nastiest squatters, including spiders, opossums, bedbugs, scorpions, bats and rats – all of which can spill out from the tiniest orifices and create a living terror.
